And this time we had a luck to catch Albacore Tuna (Bonito del Norte)!.!!. Well, to be sincere we didn’t know that we caught it, till we decided to roll in the fishing line before entering the harbor. And so there we had a nice surprise- 3 kg beautiful fish:) Good lunch, dinner and probably another lunch and dinner:) We are now in Lanzarote. Friends (Arantza, Yaya and Katia) from Madrid came to visit us , so we sailed down from Graciosa to Arrecife , Lanzarote Marina (brand new and nice marina in the center of the city) to spend a week with them. Perfect 15-20 knots wind from the back, moderate waves, dolphins and fish on a hook! Long time ago we didn’t have such pleasure! So let’s hope that the way back to Graciosa we will have similar conditions, although this means to be too optimistic. Winds here tend to blow constantly from north, north east or north west directions, so the best way to sail up is to wait calm days and go tacking into the wind. But for the moment Grib files are not showing anything good……so lets see how long we will be ‘stuck’ here in Lanzarote...

Little bit empty when you walk first time, but after few days you already get to know some locals and after a month you walk through the streets and feel that you have lived here for a long timeJ One local sailors friendly bar, where Egoi goes to watch football frequently and where you can charge your telephone, computer and what ever you need, very cheap drinks and food (simple one) ….and surprisingly fast (especially for Canary Islands) free internet. And here you learn things about the island which are not written in any tourist guides or brochures:) And third – the nature……This is one thing which we never get bored. Every time when we walk on our bikes to other side of the Island or go walking on beach or climb volcanoes we do not stop repeating how beautiful this island is! And not just the island itself, but the views. You have Lanzarote so close with it high cliff going directly to the water and 3 rocky islands on the north. All that makes that where ever you look you have such amazing view! Sometimes I feel so sorry that my English is too poor and I have lack of words for describing this beauty. But probably the pictures you have here below will speak better than me: The day we arrived, first we met one very nice couple from Basque country-Rafa and Marta and there boat FREYAJ They were going to sail Around the World and were preparing their boat for crossing Atlantic in February. Imagine how jealous (in a friendly way of courseJ) we were listening to their plans! They remind us our trip Around the World and how much we want to sail further soon! So many talks we had about that trip!!!. We hope one day we will catch them somewhere and will meet again. Than another French couple- Patricia and Patric- who live on boat already 8 years! And not on one boat- they have two! The one which stays in Graciosa they use as permanent home, and the other one which stays in Azores – for long sailings. Now they are planning to cross Atlantic and go to Cuba next year. …So again- talks talks and talks. A…….and they also have Brazilian Cat called SIKALFLEX! Super name!!! But that didn’t help him to win our Kataryte. No ‘feeling’ we say. They were fighting each night till we decided to close the hatch for the night and don’t let our still teenager cat Kataryte outside. Also there is one guy from Asturias- Eugenio, who also sailed a lot, went to Brazil and even deep in Amazon river few times.. Another family from Uruguay live with their young daughter on sailing boat in front of us. And one German man keeps here his steel sailing boat after sailing around the world few years ago. Second- the village. It is small, all white and with any asphalted road at all. Only sand! So so beautiful!!! We are very very happy to tell that finally we are starting our web site to work!!!! It took more time than we thought to build it, but probably it was because we are not the best writers and also because we wanted to do it ourselves. But finally we did and here you have it- www.SAILONGRAIN.COM. And our first post:) We are also very very happy to start it from this incredible Island where we are now- Graciosal! Staiying here for a long inspired us to start writing and to share things we see and live with all of you! We were here in 2008 and believe, we couldn’t imagine than that one day we will come here with our own sailing boat and make this Island to be our home for quite a lot time! We knew, that one day we will come back here to check how is going our tent, which we put on the beach when we sailed here first time with Ragaine II in beginning of the trip Around the World. We left it on the beach, joking,, that now we have home where to come back later.. But we would never think that we will not need it anymore. We will have our own floating home here with us. And here we are. After arriving to Canary islands from Lithuania in October we visited Tenerife, Gomera, Palma, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote Islands and finished here- enjoying deep winter moths in this small and friendly island-Graciosa. Probably, if you come here for two days you would really think, what one can do here in such a small island for so long time? Climb volcanoes, visit main beaches, take a beer in local bar….and than… what else? But believe us, all days we find new things to see, to do, to walk, to listen and to talk. First- the harbor. It’s another world here. Small live a board community, fisher mans and time to time coming visitors sailing boats . Everyone with his own stories to share and his own problems to solve:) And so here surrounded by these magic beauty we stay for now and slowly plan our future destination, prepare better our boat and meet people who come via Airbnb to stay with us. Two our very very good friends gave us this idea and so we decide to try it. Rent our back cabin for those, who would like to spend a night on boat instead of going to some hostel or hotel on shore. And looks that it works. Ok, maybe not too busy,,,,but at least for covering some harbor fees it helps. And it gives us opportunity to meet so nice and interesting people from all over the world (we had even one super nice women from China which taught me how to make own bread!:))) …. Almost forget to mention an interesting experience we are having here the last days. One French man owned Catamaran went on rocks in the beach near the harbor. So last days we are trying to help him to rescue his boat . He do not speak Spanish at all, just English, so we offered our help for organizing the saving of his boat….It is really sad thing to see how day after day boat is being more and more destroyed, but we are trying everything to be able to take it out on the shore so that later the owner could start to repair it. Hope and whish he will….but first its need to be taken out of rocks. As you can see we are not bored here at all…and if we would, , just needs to take out the mooring ropes and sail…….
